The Concrete Blonde story began with a 5-year-old girl and her first loyal client, Barbie. Owner Laura Motyka could never have imagined what would come of her childhood hobby of beautifying the original blonde bombshell.
25 years later, Concrete Blonde is about more than just excellence in hair services…
The studio is a labour of love in the name of beauty, camaraderie, and the environment. It’s the culmination of many life passions. A place where everyone feels welcomed understood and connected. It’s about making waves as a sustainability leader in the beauty industry. A studio where beautiful things happen and creativity comes to life. It’s an escape to personal change.

I have been working as a hairdresser since 2010 when Concrete Blonde first opened. Being a hairdresser also has connections to my roots, my great-grandma owned her own salon and I grew up getting my haircut from my aunt who is still doing hair today. My favourite thing about doing hair is making people feel amazing about themselves when they leave. When I’m not at the shop I enjoy going for walks with my mom and sister, sewing clothes for my nieces, reading a good book, or bingeing a good show. Looking forward to seeing you at the salon!

Laura has been the sole owner of the Studio since October 2009. She is an educator with Davines and our resident hair extension expert. Laura has been working behind the chair since 2003. She loves all things hair! Hence her professional Instagram handle -@fortheloveofallthingshair.
She is a wife to a tall, handsome, handy, and super supportive hubby, Jon. She is a mom to two little people Henry and Lillian.
